I am still alive!

Barely! This degree is killing me.

I definitely can’t wait for the holidays to start on a new quilt (my fabrics are piling up) finishing my dragon plushie and uploading the Totoro pattern for you guys.

Eugg. Sorry! Only three weeks to go till freedom.

An Architect in Training

My day job, when I’m not making my plush toys, is teaching at a University and training to be an Architect. Its awfully time-consuming, and oft times I wonder if it’s even rewarding at all - the pay, when you leave, is low, some work is tedious.

But that’s where I am at the moment. I have 16 hour days at university. Its getting harder and harder to do things that I enjoy.

I’m halfway through making a purple dragon. His little head and wings are finished, and he’s sitting there staring at me. OH… the guilt.

I learnt that stage fright was a success and my little Totoro plushies were a hit! I’ll upload the patterns for them soon for you guys to try.

On another note, DIY Fluffies just released a new pattern - this whale.

Isn’t it absolutely adorable!? The pattern is quite easy and I’m looking forward to giving it a go.

Hope everything is well with you guys! This is basically just an update to say I’m still alive! I hope to find some more time soon and happily sew away at my machine again.

Totoro Cushions!
I made this for the Stage Fright Charity event. Since it was for charity (stage fright supports Able Australia), I felt that I should make the patterns myself - put more effort into it you know? These will be part of an Artist’s Hamper that will be raffled off. For more details about Stage Fright please click here.
The Totoro’s are made out of flannel with flannel applique and felt detailing. They are super cuddly, although next time I’ll make them a bit fatter.
I will put the pattern up for download as well as tutorial later on - if people are interested! High-res

Rainbow Spotty Tortoise~

This little guy is going to New Zealand as a birthday present. :)

He was made using fleece and corduroy for his singlet top. I will have to admit that I love the singlet top - it’s being held on by six bright multicolour buttons! He’s so fat that its possible that he’d burst right out of it… this seems to be a recurring theme in the plushies I make…

This was made, once again with a Funky Friends Factory pattern. I do love them!

Kris Kringle Plushie - Pink Raccoon

This was the Kris Kringle plushie I made as a gift. This is using a different pattern, the Little Raccoon PDF Tutotorial by LYP Patterns.

I didn’t put the blush on it… I didn’t have time to do the research to work out what the blush was actually made of! I didn’t want it to wash off!

Although the pattern itself was easy enough to follow, I didn’t enjoy it as much as my good old DIYPlushies or Funky Factory patterns.

I must say that I love it’s little button tail though.

Brand New Bunny Plushie, made from a pattern by Retro Mama.
Isn’t it adorable? This was made as a birthday present for my little cousin. It’s child safe as everything is sewn on and there are no beads.
I would love to mention that the Retro Mama patterns are so detailed and so easy to follow!
Full post coming soon. High-res
